NEW Scholarships Program Beginning 2024 -2025 School Year - JK - Grade 12:
One way we celebrate student success is through our Honour Roll, which comprises two categories: Academics and Citizenship. The Academic Honour Roll includes students who have achieved an average of over 80% while the Citizenship Honour Roll includes students who have demonstrated excellent Learning Skills and Work Habits. These awards are presented at our Year End Show Celebration in June each year.
We are pleased this year to build on this tradition by introducing Student Scholarship Awards. These new scholarships will range from $500 to $2,500 for each recipient. Five scholarships will be awarded to students selected by our School Director, as well as our Elementary, Junior High, and High School principals, along with input from our athletics department.
The criteria for the scholarships are determined by the above departments and the School Director, focusing on a holistic evaluation of each student's profile. Selection will be based on various factors, including academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, leadership qualities, community involvement, and personal character. We believe this comprehensive approach ensures that all students, regardless of their strengths in specific areas, have the opportunity to be recognized for their unique contributions.
The recipients will be announced at our year-end show, celebrating their accomplishments and commitment to excellence at St-Laurent Academy!
Programs offered for the 2025-2026 school year will include:

Transitions & Academic Milestones
St-Laurent Academy is the only educational facility in Ottawa that offers programs from infant child care through to High School. St-Laurent Academy is continually identifying, developing and implementing the best approaches to learning.
Our focus on each child’s profile and needs, allows us to ensure student success in all areas of development. Each level is specially designed to bridge to the next, ideally providing students with an academic pathway from early childhood education to elementary school, which prepares them for High School and then on to the university or college of their choice.
We work closely in ensuring students are ready for each milestone and adjust our programs accordingly. For example, students are provided with the opportunity to have visit days in pre-school and in kindergarten for the next grade, while students in grade 8 will use an interactive guidance program, allowing them to choose their High School courses and begin to understand their educational and career path.
Student Success!
The St-Laurent Academy difference is our commitment to understanding the unique profile of each and every student. To fulfil this pledge, we closely monitor our students' progress, enabling us to offer a personalized, adaptable, and accommodating approach to their education.
Our dedicated teachers actively contribute to the development of student profiles and goals, through daily observations and assessments, ensuring that these profiles evolve alongside our students' growth. This approach results in comprehensive and dynamic student profiles that reflect their individual journeys.
In addition to these profiles, we actively foster communication among teachers, students, and parents, facilitating goal-setting and ensuring that the criteria for achieving those goals are transparent to all parties.
These interconnected systems empower our administration team to provide real-time support and resources to both our faculty and students. Based on our experience, effective and consistent communication is the cornerstone of accountability, and we are committed to being accountable to our students, their families, and ourselves.
At St-Laurent Academy, your success is our success.
Health and Safety
The Health and Safety of our School Community remains our top priority.
Daily maintenance, disinfection and maintaining a clean filtration system in our building is important and will be assessed and adjusted throughout each year.
The daily routines of students which include hand washing routines and keeping our environment clean is equally important.
We continue to keep close communications with Ottawa Public Health and the Ministry of Education and will update our policies and resources as required in ensuring we are always proactive on our approach.
Our administration team, teachers and school nurse ensure that we communicate in regards to student health and safety and at a minimum require a 24 hour symptom free period during any illness.
High School Credits
As a school inspected by the Ministry of Education in Ontario, we are proud to offer our students an accredited curriculum and grant them the internationally recognized Ontario Secondary School Diploma upon graduation. All of our teachers are specialists in their teachable courses and deliver the curriculum to the highest standards through dynamic methods of assessment.
Follow our lead as we continue to achieve 100% university acceptance!
After achieving high success following our Ministry of Education inspection, we are proud to have received an honourable mention as one of the first private schools in Ontario to move to a three-year inspection cycle, reflecting our overall excellence.
Guidance
school Principals and JK-Gr. 12 Vice Principal Mrs. Alie. As part of this process, students are supported in a variety of academic, social, emotional and individual ways to ensure that their profiles are fully supported both in and out of the classroom. Two additional full time teachers have also been appointed in supporting our team and our teachers.
In addition, St-Laurent Academy has created a secure live operation cloud system that provides all heads of departments and teachers with the ability to access instantly daily student progress, homework, academic goals, reporting, IEPs and student goals in all Learning Skills and Work Habits.
Student Leadership Opportunities
Leadership and responsibility are important characteristics that we want to instil in all of our students! Within the Elementary Program, our senior students from Grade 3 - 5, have the opportunity to apply and be interviewed for a role as a “Student Monitor”. Our monitors act as important role models and WITS ambassadors as they support our JK - Grade 2 students during recess and lunch times.
Students in our Junior High (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12) will have the chance to demonstrate their leadership abilities through various opportunities, including participation in the student government (which organises fundraising events and special activities like movie nights and school dances), involvement in the yearbook club, and engagement in inter-school activities such as recess monitoring for older students with younger classes, and reading buddies in French and English.
Student Profiles and Academic Pathways
At St-Laurent Academy, we know that each student is a unique individual, and that when they are supported in understanding their own learning profile, they are able to achieve anything. As part of this process, our Principals meet with each student individually to discuss their progress, goals, aptitudes, and areas for development, in order to set targets that support student success both academically and with learning skills and work habits. St-Laurent Academy School Directors and principals are committed to support ongoing communication with teachers and parents to ensure the goals are set throughout the school year in optimising student success.
WITS School
Our school, through our Elementary Program, is a recognized WITS school, an international program created to help children advocate, use their voice and words and prevent victimisation, such as bullying, discrimination and lateral violence. The WITS program gives children aged 5 to 11 the tools to manage conflicts and empowers them to make safe, positive choices within their community. Students at all levels of elementary take part in lessons, discussion and within our older grades training to be WITS leaders.
Monthly Elementary “student led” assemblies will continue each year, allowing for our students to showcase their media literacy skills but also take responsibility for keeping their classmates up to date on the “who, what, when, where, why and how” of St-Laurent Academy.
Google Classroom
St-Laurent Academy will continue to use Google classroom and can be accessed by students, using their St-Laurent Academy email accounts. Parents will not have an account, but will be invited to receive daily, weekly or monthly summaries through their personal email accounts. Google Classroom is utilised as an online tool by teachers to ensure students are successful in managing their academic work and school event calendar. Our teachers will post assignments, homework, general reminders, assessments and updates on a daily and weekly basis for students to remain organized and up to date.
Edsembli & Reporting
Following the introduction of Edsembli Connect this school year, we will continue to utilize this portal as we move into the 2025-2026 school year. Parents will receive a link, password and direction on how to access the parent portal for retrieving student confidential report cards. The system we will be using is called edsembli CONNECT and will maintain student present and past report card records with St-Laurent Academy for easy and confidential access.
When a report is ready for access and distribution, parents will receive an email from the school administration to access their parent portal and retrieve the student report card. There are four reporting periods throughout the course of the school year: November, February, April, June.
